treasure hunt stories
Treasure hunts are where we ask God to give us clues about a person and then we set off into the city to find the people that match our clues, and ask them if they would like prayer. The first series of treasure hunts were run over 3 Friday evenings and many people were healed, encouraged and touched with words of knowledge. Please keep reading to hear some experiences different people had.
"I was in a great team and we had an excellent night with lots of laughs and fun but mostly really meaningful moments... a lot of reaffirming was done, encouraging, often with prophecy to help address what their prayer needs were. For example: A lovely homeless man needed to be set free from oppressive words and names that had been spoken over him." – Rachel Vernal
"I was completely blown away in what God did last Friday night and how he was leading us. So awesome to get healed myself in the church [of pain in my shin] but also to find that guy in the trench coat and black long hair eating a cheese burger....and seeing his leg getting healed and just his look on his face, and him calling us magicians [because he couldn't understand how the pain and swelling in his knee had gone away] and then us showing him it is not us but only the one true God." – Andy Dunn
"We met two guys who were out on the town and after talking with them some of the team were able to pray for one of them who had back pain which was healed and he was able to bend down with no pain"
"We decided to head off to ASB corner on Queen St and while half the team talked to an older lady they had met, the other half of us stood nearby. After we checked our clues we saw that the man sitting right in front of us at the bus stop matched three of the clues on our treasure map. He had just had an operation on his knee after a work accident and also had numbness in his leg. We prayed for him and have since made contact hoping to build friendship."
